CHILD OF SILENCE

Child of silence goes unheard
Lives unnoticed, speaks not a word
The anger, the hurt, that's buried inside
Utterance of words that were so long denied

Please shut up!
Don't look at me that way!
Please don't interrupt!
That's what her parents would say

So deep within her heart, her soul
The torture brought it's mighty toll
The pain kept on digging away
Stopped her from what she needed to say

She needed to scream
She needed to lament
Throw her fists up in the air
Just let the feelings vent

With pencil in hand and plenty of time
Writing her thoughts down, most in poetic rhyme
As words dance ever so lightly, upon thin sheets of white
The candle continues to burn, on into the dead of night

It is the nighttime, when all her thoughts run free
Memories, dreams and nightmares, mixed with ebony
So many questions unanswered, of what mark on life she leaves
So the child of silence sits and waits, for love is all that she needs
